Children's Hospital Oakland
Residency Program

Program Overview

Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland offers a three-year fully accredited post-graduate residency training program encompassing all aspects of pediatric medicine. Our structured educational experience strikes the appropriate balance between clinical and didactic activities, educational and service needs, and inpatient and primary care experiences.

Children’s training program is one of the most desirable in the country because we have a superb house staff—featuring 78 residents from more than 40 different medical schools plus three chief residents—an enviable patient population—with both multi-cultural and economic diversity—and access to more than 160 hospital-based pediatric specialists and more than 300 community-based pediatricians.

Children’s Hospital Oakland is a major referral center, a community hospital, and also has a renowned research institute—with more than 250 investigators and staff, and an annual research budget of more than $47 million.

Our program’s residency training is appropriate for any career path in pediatric healthcare.
