Dr. Reinhartz has touched Jovanni’s heart in more ways than one. When he stopped by to see him in Children’s Intensive Care Unit, Jovanni was recovering from cardiac surgery to help his only pumping heart chamber work with as little stress as possible. Because Jovanni’s family are Jehovah’s Witnesses, Children’s surgical team operated without using donor blood, a truly challenging task in cardiac surgery.
The Cardiac Center at Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland includes an active cardiac surgery program, offering surgical options for all types of congenital heart disease. Intensive care specialists and anesthesiologists support the program to provide the best care possible for our surgical patients.
Services include evaluation and treatment for children with congenital or acquired cardiac or vascular anomalies. Consultation and surgical services provided in concert with Children’s Hospital Oakland Neonatology and Cardiology divisions.
