Clinic Policies

  • Child supervision: Children under the age of 12 must not be left without adult supervision in any area of the hospital. This policy helps ensure the safety of young children and protects the clinic from being held liable for any injuries sustained by unattended children.

  • Brothers and sisters are welcome at Children’s: Please do not bring brothers and sisters if they have colds or other contagious illnesses, as we do not want other patients exposed. Please make sure your children are supervised while in clinic. Please bring books, a snack or something to hold the attention of siblings so that your attention can be focused on the child in clinic.

  • Visitors: Please do not bring relatives or friends into the clinic room who do not know your child’s diagnosis. If you are unable to avoid bringing someone who does not know, ask them to remain in the waiting area.

  • Missed appointment: Missed appointments compromise our ability to provide quality care. Please cancel appointments that cannot be kept. This should be done as far in advance as possible. Early cancellations give other patients the opportunity to utilize available appointments. Appointments can be cancelled by calling Joyce at 510-428-3337, your nurse or your social worker.

  • Late appointment arrivals: In order to give you and our other patients the highest level care possible, if you are more than 15 minutes late, it may be necessary to reschedule your appointments, and you may incur a rescheduling fee.

  • Failure to follow-up: It is our hope and expectation that patients and their families follow treatment recommendations. If you and your family disagree with any treatment recommendations or have questions about them, please notify us immediately so we can fully discuss these issues. Sometimes, when treatment recommendations are not followed over a period of time, our team may become concerned about medical neglect. In this case, we would be obligated by law to contact Child Protective Services.
