David Durand, MD is the Director of the Division of Neonatology. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital Oakland, and his neonatology fellowship at Mt. Zion Hospital Medical Center in San Francisco, before joining the group in 1984. He is the Medical Director of the Neonatal-Pediatric Research Group, and has an appointment as clinical scientist in the Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute (CHORI). In addition to his clinical, research, and teaching work, he is a technical consultant to California Children’s Services, and is an active member of the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative. He is the vice-president of the California Association of Neonatologists. |
Arthur D’Harlingue, MD is the Medical Director of the NICU. He joined the group in 1983 after he completed his pediatric residency and fellowship in neonatal/perinatal medicine at Stanford University Medical Center. In addition to his clinical and administrative duties, he is a member of the Board of Directors at Children’s Hospital. He has a special interest in neonatal nutrition. |
Priscilla Joe, MD is the Associate Director of the NICU and the Medical Director of the ECMO program. She joined our group in 1992 after she completed her residency at Children’s Hospital Oakland and her fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Joe is Director of our ECMO Program, Associate Director of the ICN and Director of MQIC. Dr. Joe is also the Neonatal team leader for Project Vietnam and medical advisor to East Meets West, which provides state-of-the-art supplies, equipment and teaching to neonatal physicians and nurses in Vietnam. |

She completed her residency in pediatrics at Children's Hospital Oakland and her fellowship in neonatal/perinatal medicine at the University of California, San Diego. Alex Espinoza, MD joined our group in 1987. He completed his residency at Children’s Hospital Oakland and his fellowship at Mt. Zion Hospital and Medical Center, San Francisco, CA. Dr. Espinoza is the Director of our Neonatal Follow-Up Clinics at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center and John Muir Mt. Diablo Medical Center, where state-of-the-art follow-up is provided for High-Risk NICU graduates. |

She completed her residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and her fellowship in neonatal/perinatal medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, University of Southern California. Joanna is concurrently a postdoctoral fellow at UC Berkeley working on the development of T cells from cord blood stem cells. | |
| Nick Mickas, MD joined the group in 2001. He completed his residency at Children’s Hospital Oakland and his fellowship at Stanford/Lucile Salter Packard Children’s Hospital, Palo Alto. He is Assistant Medical Director at John Muir/Mt. Diablo Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and works closely with community hospitals to insure quality care is available to infants born at risk. | |

Dr. Scott is the Medical Director at the John Muir/Mt Diablo Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. | Jaime Tannenbaum, MD joined the group in 1994. She completed her residency at Children’s Hospital Oakland and her fellowship in Neonatology at the University of California San Francisco. She has been instrumental in developing tools for resident education at Children’s Hospital. |

She completed her residency at the Valley Medical Center in Fresno, California and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, and her fellowship at Children’s Hospital of San Francisco. She is a team member for humanitarian aid missions to India and Africa, advising on state-of-the-art neonatal care. | H. Faith Wu, MD, MPH joined the group in 1991. She completed her residency at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore and Rutgers Medical School, and her neonatology fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Wu also obtained her Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. |
