Hospital School Program
THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY
Families can play an important role in their child’s hospital school experience. Parents can help by:
- Notifying their child's teacher and school nurse to let them know about a school absence or hospitalization.
- Sending assignments and textbooks with your child when hospitalization is planned. If the admission is unplanned, you can help make a smooth continuation of your child’s education by contacting the school for assigments.
- Encouraging communication between your child and his/her friends and teachers at the home school. The computer lab located in the Hospital School classroom, helps maintain these important relationships.
- Allowing extra time for your child to complete school assignments during recuperation.
