Neurology - TSC clinic, manages the neurological problems people with TSC may
experience, such as
epilepsy and sleep disturbances. Carrie Krupitsky, RN, FNP, co-director, assists with
patient management and coordination of care. Leslie Angeles is the office
assistant who facilitates referrals and authorizations with insurance
companies and coordinates appointments with other specialists.
Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, provides developmental assessment, addresses behavioral problems
and facilitates treatment and services for developmental issues and autistic
spectrum disorder in children with TSC.
Genetics - John Waterson, MD, provides genetic evaluation and counseling to patients and families.
Nephrology - Barbara Bothelo, MD, treats patients
with kidney problems such as polycystic kidney disease and renal angiomyolipomas.
Cardiology - Kishor Avasarala, MD, evaluates and treats patients with cardiac tumors and arrhythmias as well as other cardiac problems that may occur in patients with TSC.
Dermatology - Ilona Frieden, MD, a participating
physician from the University of California, San Francisco, addresses
the various skin manifestations of TSC.
Dentistry - Edward Rothman, DDS, provides dental
care to people with TSC. He treats the dental and oral manifestations
of the disease and meets the general dental needs of TSC patients with
developmental issues.
Neurosurgery - Peter Sun, MD, provides diagnostic
services and care to patients with brain manifestations of TSC, such as
giant cell astrocytomas, that may need surgical intervention.
Social Services - Jill Cooper, LCSW, MPH, provides counseling and assistance with identifying additional
financial and community resources for families.
In addition to these primary disciplines, physicians from Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Ophthalmology and all other specialties through Children's Hospital & Research Center at Oakland are available to provide services to TSC patients. Our Diagnostic Imaging and Clinical Laboratory services will be available for any CT scans, ultrasounds, MRIs or laboratory studies that need to be completed.
