KIDS GETTIN' FIT

Kids Gettin' Fit is a 6-week group weight management program for children 6 - 12 years old.

The program is 6 consecutive classes offered on Tuesday afternoons for two hours from 4 - 6 PM.  Each child attending must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  A Children's Hospital staff dietitian leads each session. Each weekly meeting focuses on a nutrition topic and includes family playtime.

The Kids Gettin' Fit program covers a variety of weight management topics including:

  • energy balance
  • the importance of breakfast
  • the impact of sugary beverages
  • my "Pyramid"
  • balanced meals
  • portion sizes
  • hunger and satiety cues
  • understanding nutrition labels
  • healthy snacks
  • special treats & celebrations
  • the importance of active play
  • decreasing passive activity & "screen time"

This is a health education class - therefore a referral is not needed. Kids Gettin' Fit is a "covered service" for Alameda Alliance members. For other insurances, we can only accept a self-pay arrangement in the amount of $480. We can provide a receipt for individuals to submit to their insurance to request reimbursement.

Checks should be made payable to: "Kids Gettin' Fit, Children's Hospital".
