James E. Crawford-Jakubiak, MD, is an expert in pediatrics and the medical evaluation of child abuse and neglect. He is one of only a small number of pediatricians board certified in Child Abuse Pediatrics in California, and one of only two such pediatricians practicing in the Bay Area. Dr. Crawford-Jakubiak has provided care for thousands of children where there were concerns of physical abuse, sexual abuse or serious neglect at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland’s Center for Child Protection.

Center for Child Protection

The Center for Child Protection provides comprehensive medical and mental health services to children and adolescents affected by abuse and/or exposure to violence. It is the designated site for forensic medical services in Alameda County. Dr. Crawford-Jakubiak and his colleagues at the CCP see about 1,000 cases of suspected child abuse a year.
