UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland looks forward to continued success for years, but we know we can't do it alone. To help us provide a better future for children in the community and all over the world, we need people just like you. Join us.
Our strongest asset is our people. From our qualified staff and dedicated researchers to the 1000's of volunteers who put in the necessary time and effort to keep us running, it's individuals like you who are the lifeblood of what we accomplish here.
We're always happy to welcome volunteers, and have several volunteer and philanthropic service opportunities in place to help match your skills and interests with our current needs.
Children's Hospital Branches
Children's Hospital Branches is a network of volunteers that have been advocating for the hospital for over 100 years. As an active part of the community and an independent non-profit organization, Branches is the host of several annual gala fundraising events as well as smaller outreach efforts. Members of the Branches organization have served as Children's advocates in the community, raising millions of dollars to provide both seed money for new programs and ongoing support that has touched virtually every department and division at the hospital. Generations of kids and families have benefited from the efforts of the Branches.

Hospital & Foundation Volunteers
Children's Hospital Oakland relies on a network of trained and enthusiastic volunteers dedicated to furthering our mission. Every year, more than 1,000 area volunteers work within the hospital itself, with countless others supporting us in the community through fundraising and outreach methods.
Volunteer in the Hospital
Depending on interests and background, volunteers may find themselves working the counter at the gift shop, tutoring in the hospital classrooms, or even working alongside a researcher in the Research Institute. Your commitment to the job is part of what makes Volunteer Services at Children's Hospital Oakland so successful, and we ask that you contribute a minimum 100 hours of service after your initial training period.
The Volunteer Services department is designed to help patients and their families, which is why we have a fairly lengthy application and intake process. More about: Becoming a Hospital Volunteer
Volunteer with Our Foundation
Children's Hospital & Research Center Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting all the work we do at Children's Hospital Oakland. Raising millions of dollars every year, the Foundation is a large part of our success as a hospital and pediatric research center. Several volunteer opportunities exist through the Foundation, ranging from planning our annual events and fundraisers to helping run the office itself. The focus here is less on patient care and more on finding ways to create a sustainable and lasting gift for the future—and that requires your help. If you are interested, contact our Foundation for more information: 510-428-3814
As a Children's Hospital Oakland and research organization, we really are strengthened by the people who support every facet of what we do. You are our success and our future, and we thank you.
If you'd like to become part of this incredible movement, we love to meet new faces willing to help, and you're welcome to contact us for more information on our current volunteer opportunities.
