As a major tertiary care center and community hospital with a renowned research institute, Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland offers an education in pediatric medicine that has both great breadth and appropriate balance.

Our 78 residents come from diverse backgrounds and over 40 medical schools across the US. At Children’s, they prepare to become life-long learners, advocates for their patients and families, and leaders in their field, be it community pediatrics, academic medicine, or other disciplines. Very well prepared for any career path in pediatrics, our graduates are recruited for positions in the most competitive pediatric subspecialty fellowships, the most highly regarded primary care and hospitalist groups, and other fields such as public or international health.
