Dr. Michael R. Anderson is President of UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals and Senior Vice President, Children's Services for UCSF Health. He earned his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University and his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, and a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, and received an MBA in health care administration at the Kent State University School of Business.



David BeierDavid Beier

David Beier is a managing director of Bay City Capital, a private equity and venture capital firm that invests in the life sciences sector, with a focus on biopharmaceuticals. He serves on the California State Government Organization & Economy Commission. He received a JD from Union University’s Albany Law School and a BA in history from Colgate University.



Valli BeneschValli Benesch

Valli Benesch is the Co-CEO of Fritzi Realty, a real estate management, investment, and development company. She is a graduate and fellow of the Wexner Heritage Foundation. Valli holds a JD from the University of Chicago Law School and a BA in History, with Phi Beta Kappa honors, from Stanford University.



Lynne BenioffLynne Benioff

Lynne Benioff is the co-chairwoman of TIME, a Distinguished Director of the Board of Overseers of the UCSF Foundation, and serves on the board of directors of The Rise Fund, Common Sense Media and the Benioff Ocean Initiative. She received a BS from the University of Washington.



Farah ChampsiFarah Champsi

Farah Hyder Champsi is a private investor and advisor in the biotech industry. Previously she was a managing director of Alta Partners, a leading life sciences venture capital firm. She is a trustee of Smith College. She received a BA in economics from Smith College and an MBA from Stanford University.



Ronald Cohen, MD Ronald Cohen, MD

Ronald Cohen, MD is Medical Director of Diagnostic Imaging at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland and President of the Medical Staff from 2018-2020. He received his medical degree from UC Davis, was a pediatric resident at the University of Arizona, a Diagnostic Radiology resident at Stanford University, and did a Pediatric Radiology Fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.



Charles Cole, IIICharles Cole, III, EdD

Dr. Charles La Von Cole, III is the founder of Energy Convertors, an education organization focused on building student agency and lifting local voices to create positive change in public education. He received his doctorate in Educational Leadership from San Francisco State University, and recently published his first book, Beyond Grit & Resilience.



Diane DietzDiane Dietz

Diane Dietz has been the president and CEO of the skincare company Rodan +Fields since 2016. She was previously the chief marketing officer of Safeway from 2008–2015. Earlier, she worked at Proctor & Gamble in its health and beauty sector. She has served on the board of Whirlpool since 2013. Diane received a BS in marketing and economics from Northern Illinois University.



Maria Echaveste UCSF BOD Maria Echaveste

Maria Echaveste is the President and CEO of the Opportunity Institute as well as a senior fellow at the UC Berkeley Center for Latin American Studies, and has built a distinguished career working as a public policy consultant, lecturer, a senior White House official, long-time community leader, and corporate attorney. She earned a BA in anthropology from Stanford University and a JD from UC Berkeley’s Boalt Hall.

Samir Kaul is a founding general partner at Khosla Ventures, a venture capital firm founded in 2004, and a leading investor in several initiatives. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Michigan, also studied biochemistry at the University of Maryland and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University.



Timothy KendallTimothy Kendall

Timothy Kendall is the CEO of Moment, an app that helps adults and children use their phones in healthier ways. He is the former President of Pinterest, where he led product development, engineering, marketing and sales and, prior to Pinterest, was Facebook’s Director of Monetization. He earned his engineering degree and MBA from Stanford University.



Talmadge King, Jr, MDTalmadge King, Jr, MD

Talmadge E. King, Jr, MD, was appointed Dean of the Medical School at UCSF in May of 2015. He earned a medical degree at Harvard Medical School, followed by a residency at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, and a pulmonary fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.



Carolyn KlebanoffCarolyn Klebanoff, MD

Carolyn Klebanoff, MD, is a physician specializing in internal medicine, practicing in Berkeley, CA since 1985. She earned a BS in biology from Yale University and her medical degree from UCSF. Her general internal medicine residency was at the UCSF-affiliated program at San Francisco General Hospital.



Mark LaretMark Laret

Mark Laret has been Chief Executive Officer of UCSF Health since April 2000. Before joining UCSF, he served from 1980 to 1995 in a variety of senior management positions at UCLA Medical Center, including CEO of the 900-physician UCLA Medical Group. From 1995-2000 he was CEO of UC Irvine Medical Center. He earned a Bachelor’s degree at UCLA and Master’s degree at the University of Southern California, both in political science.



Jason MomentJason Moment

Jason Moment has a background in finance working in the hedge fund industry. In 2010, he co-founded Route One Investment, a long-term oriented investment partnership, which manages over $5 billion in assets. He serves on the UCSF Foundation Board of Overseers and the board of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. He received his education at the University of Pennsylvania.

Robert Pedrero is the president of Pharr, Inc., a family investment firm. As an entrepreneur, he founded and sold companies in the real estate, telecommunications, and publishing industries. He received his MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University and holds an AB in History from Dartmouth College.



Edward Penhoet, PhD Edward Penhoet, PhD

Edward Penhoet, PhD, is associate dean of biology at the University of California, Berkeley and a Professor Emeritus of Health Policy & Management in the School of Public Health. He earned his BA in biology from Stanford University, his Doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Washington, and was a post-doctoral fellow at UC San Diego.



John ProtopappasJohn Protopappas

John Protopappas is the President and CEO of Madison Park, a full service real estate company founded in 1983, with expertise in investment, asset management, development and property management of commercial and residential properties. Madison Park is a pioneer of live/work housing in Oakland. John is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley with an A.B. in Economics.

Shahan Soghikian is a co-founder of Panorama Capital, focused primarily on technology and consumer investments. He is a trustee of Pitzer College and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Ninth Decimal and on the LP Advisory Committees of Samsara Biocapital and Q-Centrix. He holds a BA from Pitzer College and a MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.



Elisa StadElisa Stad

Elisa Stad is currently an independent brand marketing consultant. She has held various international business development and brand management roles at Benefit Cosmetics- LVMH, the Clorox Company, and Newell Rubbermaid. She holds a BS degree from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California and is a graduate of INSEAD's Asian International Executive Program.

Lisa Walsh is the Managing Partner of the San Francisco office of The Bridgespan Group, a global nonprofit organization that provides management consulting and other supports to mission-driven leaders, organizations, philanthropists, and investors. She received her BA in economics and International Relations from the University of California at Davis and her MBA from Harvard Business School.



Robin Washington UCSF BODRobin Washington

Robin Washington is a member of the Boards of Directors of Alphabet, Inc., Honeywell International, and Salesforce.com, the Board of Visitors, Graziadio School of Business and Management, Pepperdine University, and the Presidents Council & Ross Business School Advisory Board, University of Michigan. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Pepperdine University.



Carrie Wheeler

Carrie Wheeler has been in the private equity business for 25 years. She retired as a Partner with TPG Capital, a global private investment firm, in 2017, where she had been responsible for the firm's investments in the retail and consumer sectors. She currently sits on the Board for JCrew Group. She received her Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada.


Melissa WilliamsMelissa Williams

Melissa Williams is the Managing Partner of Second Peninsula, a production company that creates video content for PBS NewsHour and other organizations. She is co-founder and co-chair of Notes & Words, a benefit concert series for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, which has raised over $12M since its inception in 2010. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
