The Child Life Practicum Program is  designed to provide an introduction to the child life profession to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career as a Certified Child Life Specialist. The 10-week program (100 hours) provides students with the opportunity to observe the role of a child life specialist in two clinical settings as well as to assist with the creation and implementation of developmentally-informed activities in a playroom setting. In addition to the clinical and playroom experiences, the practicum student is will be responsible for the completion of weekly readings and written assignments which encourage the application of inclusive child development theories to their work with children and families.

Requirements:
  1. Undergraduate students must have their core curriculum completed, including a child development course with a passing grade.
  2. A minimum of 50 hours of volunteer experience with infants, children and families.

  1. Resume and Cover Letter
  2. Practicum Application
  3. (2) Child Life Practicum Reference Forms- one reference form should be completed by a person who has observed your work with children and families.
  4. Transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
