  • Children's Blood & Marrow Transplantation Program is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). FACT accreditation is the threshold for excellence in cellular therapy including bone marrow or cord blood transplant (BMT).

Facilities Designed around Children and Families

  • The BMT facility is a 10,000 square-foot unit designed for family-focused care and includes a playroom, family meeting areas, patient rooms, and parent sleeping accommodations. Because the entire facility is treated with an air filtration system that minimizes the risk of infection, you can be with your child through their hospitalization.

  • Your child is cared for by the same group of specialists throughout her or his stay. From oncology and hematology specialists to the dieticians and the Child Life specialists who make life in our facility comfortable, your child receives the comfort of familiar, friendly faces every day.

  • The BMT House provides off-site housing for families.

Specialty Pediatric Hematology Treatments

  • Our areas of expertise include a comprehensive range of patient services, with a special focus on thalassemia and sickle cell disease. Our research studies related to clinical transplantation for non-malignant hematological disorders have paved the way for current treatment options.

  • We offer pediatric extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP), a post-transplant therapy that reduces the need for immune system suppressants.

  • Our Sibling Donor Cord Blood Program was the first of its kind in the world.

  • We perform unrelated donor transplantation using marrow and stem cells from adult volunteer donors and unrelated UCB donations.

  • We are a leading institution for other emerging cellular therapies, including gene therapy.
