HLA/Immunogenetics Laboratory

The Immunogenetics and HLA Laboratory provides human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing, HLA antibody identification, and post-transplant engraftment monitoring services. These tests are required for patients undergoing evaluation for organ transplantation, recipients of bone marrow/stem cell transplants, for patients requiring platelet transfusions from HLA-matched donors, and for patients undergoing evaluation of conditions with known associations to particular HLA alleles.

HLA/Immunogenetics Laboratory at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland

The HLA/Immunogenetics Laboratory is a licensed California State Clinical Histocompatibility Laboratory which, since 1996, has provided "gold standard" molecular immunogenetics analysis. Children's HLA/Immunogenetics Laboratory is internationally respected in assay development and research on the role of HLA and natural killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) genetics in disease association and stem-cell transplantation. The Laboratory is an international leader in the field of next-generation sequencing (NGS) of HLA.
