About Me

Dr. Agrawal is a former fellow in Oakland who was recruited back to our program after working at Texas Children’s Hematology Center as a medical director of hematology in Africa. Since joining our faculty in 2014, he has become the director of our Inpatient Hematology/Oncology Service and Associate Director of the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program. He is a committed teacher and mentor and has received several teaching awards. He recently received, as the principal investigator, a St. Baldrick’s infrastructure grant for the development of an early phase, novel therapeutics program in pediatric oncology. He is a co-investigator in a multicenter trial with Seattle Children’s Hospital for the development of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy for relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Dr. Agrawal has a passion for developing evidence-based pediatric oncology supportive care guidelines. He is currently coordinating several prospective trials in this region including early discharge in low-risk, febrile neutropenic patients, utilization of low- dose ketamine infusion for end-of-life cancer pain, and utilization of virtual reality technology for easier insertion of vascular access ports.
