About Me

Dr. Golden is a senior clinician and one of the leaders of the Oncology Program. Dr. Golden has been a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) since 1995 and is the COG Principal Investigator at BCHO. Dr. Golden is responsible for training and supervising the clinical research associates and research nurse for COG and maintaining the education and involvement of responsible investigators for COG including pharmacy, surgery, pathology, and radiology. As the principal investigator for COG studies, she is responsible for IRB submissions, SAE reporting, and the success of our last two audits. Her work has led to the opening of several new phase 2 and 3 studies. BCHO, under the direction of Dr. Golden, was asked to participate in a centralized IRB pilot project for COG. Initially trained as a genetics counselor interested in hematology/oncology, she pursued a career goal to become a pediatric oncologist and a physician advisor for the pediatric hospice center. Dr. Golden has been a mentor for fellows for decades and a clinical resource for the Hem/Onc Division. In addition to being the COG PI, Dr. Golden helps oversee the clinical program and is responsible for ensuring each patient has a primary oncology care physician, with optimally provided family oncology care.

Recently, Dr. Golden, in conjunction with Dr. Anne Lown at UCSF, submitted a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) grant for acupressure intervention to reduce treatment-related symptoms in children with cancer, which underwent its initial LOI approval and is under review. In addition, with Dr. Feusner, she is a co-PI for the California Leukemia Outcomes Study, which is under its competitive renewal.
