As a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland considers EMS agencies and the pre-hospital specialists such as paramedics, emergency medical technicians, first responders, and ambulance services vital partners to our hospital. These prehospital specialists provide treatment to those in need of urgent medical care and provide life-saving transport to get patients to the next point of definitive care.

Pre-hospital services are integral to providing emergency medical care and provide a wide range of services including:

  • 911 emergency care to transport patients from the field to Children’s Emergency Department (ED)
  • Basic and advanced life support (BLS and ALS) interfacility transport and critical care transport to move patients between healthcare facilities
  • Aeromedical systems with special speed and range capabilities that provide air transport with specialized medical aircrew and equipment for in-flight medical care.

UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland recognizes the very special talents of EMS providers and the contributions they have made to the improvement of pre-hospital care.

We would like to recognize and thank our Pre-Hospital Partners for their dedication to children’s health:
