Transport & Transfer Services

Emergency Transport & Transfer Services Round the Clock

When a child is critically ill or injured, expert transportation can mean the difference between life and death. The region's most critically injured or ill children and infants are transported to Children's Hospital Oakland’s because of our nationally recognized pediatric tertiary care and our ACS verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center (one of only five in California). Our Critical Care Transport Team is highly skilled and experienced in the special needs that children have during this important transitional phase of their care.

One call to 855-CHO-KIDS connects pediatric providers with:

  • Children's Emergency Department, NICU, PICU, or ICU
  • Children's pediatric specialists for urgent consultation
  • Expert, round the clock, local, regional, and national patient transfer and critical emergency transportation
  • Transport by ambulance, fixed wing aircraft, or helicopter
  • Transport team representing multiple medical specialties to manage complex transports for children and infants with a wide variety of medical, cardiac, neonatal, surgical, and traumatic conditions.

Transfer Center communication specialists work closely with community providers (physicians, nurses, administrative staff) to handle all aspects of the patient transfer.
